About Neal

Neal Carter is a Principal Engineer, Partner, and Accident Reconstructionist at Explico Inc, a scientific firm that specializes in accident reconstruction, biomechanics, human factors, and forensic visualization, with offices in eight states. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a Mechanical specialty from the Colorado School of Mines (2004) and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah (2007). Neal is accredited as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and he has offered expert testimony as a reconstructionist.

In addition to reconstructing accidents for litigation support, Neal recognizes the value of research to hone his skills and advance the capabilities and collective knowledge of the industry. Neal has written numerous technical articles that have been published in the Society of Automotive Engineers International Journal of Transportation Safety, in the Society of Automotive Engineers Technical Paper Series, in Collision – The International Compendium of Crash Research, and in Electric Energy. The topics covered in these articles include vehicle damage analysis methods, vehicle deceleration analysis, event data recorders, simulation, motorcycle crash causation, video analysis, photogrammetry, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for accident reconstruction, motorcycle dynamics, and driver naturalistic behavior.
